Nantyfelin Pottery - Jamie & Dodie Herschel

Jamie originally from Llanddarog met Dodie a native of Stoke on Trent, at Stoke on Trent College of Art. On leaving college they married and have been working happily together for over fifty years. Nantyfelin Pottery is their fifth pottery having potted as far afield as Cornwall and the Languedoc.

In 2005 they returned to Wales, where they built a new house and workshop in the small village of Llanfair Clydogau where they currently work.

They work using a Terra Cotta clay which is either finished in their “Misty Blue” glaze or decorated using the highly skilled technique of sgraffito. Each piece is individually drawn through the white overcoat of clay by hand and then after the first firing coloured and fired again.
