Membership

Membership of Origin comprises a monthly subscription (paid by standing order) and a commission on sales. Together these cover the overheads on the gallery (rent, rates, utilities, packaging, etc.) Payments for sales are made monthly by BACS.

We offer a choice of membership levels.

1) Full membership LEVEL 1

Joining as a full member on Level 1 costs £20 per month, plus 15% commission on sales. We actively encourage you to stay for a minimum of 12 months as we feel it is important for you to experience all of the seasons in the Gallery. We ask for at least 2 months’ notice of your intention to leave Origin. It is estimated that you will need to steward in the gallery for at least one day every three weeks. You will have full voting rights in all Origin matters.

2) Introductory membership – 4 month contract

The fee for introductory membership is £10 per month, and the commission on sales is 25%. This gives students and new makers/artists a chance to ‘test the waters’. At the end of 4 months, you may join as a full member if your Origin membership has proved worthwhile. It is estimated that you will need to steward in the gallery for at least one day a month. You will have full voting rights in all Origin matters.

Insurance

All members must have up to date Public & Product Liability insurance.

We select members on a number of criteria, including quality of work, 'fit' with existing members work and available space in Origin.

Following initial selection based on the information that you send, you may be invited to a members selection meeting, to meet you and view samples of your work.

These meetings are held in Origin (Covid regulations permitting).

We look forward to hearing from the talented artists and makers of Carmarthenshire, Ceredigion and Pembrokeshire.
