Moriath Glass - Moira Williams
I am a glass artist living and working in a secluded valley studio in Carmarthenshire, surrounded by hills, woodland, big skies and running water.
I have spent the last 20 years developing my understanding of kiln-formed glass, playing with colours and techniques, constantly finding new ways of firing.
Much of my work is inspired by landscapes and skylines, the edge between worlds, the defining viewpoint. In contrast to that broad horizon, in many pieces I encourage the viewer to look closely into the glass. Each piece is worked in stages and layers so that a sense of depth gives new perceptions of space.
Origin always has a good selection of my current work on display - jewellery and freestanding panels (great on a windowsill or with a night light behind) as well as assorted birds, stars and lightcatchers.
